NEEDED: HELPERS

ROMANS 16:1-16

Some individuals believe that the word “helper” has inferior connotation. A trained teacher’s class is supported by a classroom helper. On the work, helpers provide assistance to skilled bricklayers, plumbers, and electricians. They might be thought to be of less value since they lack the same level of professional expertise. To complete the work, though, everyone is required.

In his activity as a minister, the apostle Paul had numerous helpers. His epistle to the Romans included a list of them (chapter 16). He mentioned helpers like Priscilla, Aquila, Phoebe, etc.

According to 1 Corinthians 12:28, giving help is a spiritual gift. The apostle Paul included it in his enumeration of the gifts the Holy Spirit bestows on followers of Christ in the church, which is His body. Just as essential as the other gifts on the list is the gift of “helps.”

Our Helper is the Holy Spirit (John 14:26 – New King James Version, Berean Literal Bible, English Standard Version, Amplified Bible, etc.).

Let the Holy Spirit, our Helper, make use of us in whatever capacity He has endowed us.

No matter our roles, we are a necessary part of the whole.

🙏🏼Thank You, Lord, for the gifts You have given us so that we may serve the church. Help us to consistently use our gifts to glorify You.
