PSALM 34:1-4
Football fans like chanting and cheering for their favourite team. They show their support for their team by putting on their team’s jersey, following them on social media, and watching the games.
Our sporting allegiances might serve as a reminder that our first and most important allegiance must be to God. When we read Psalm 34, where David focuses our attention on someone far more important than anything else on earth, we think of such loyalty.
It is not wrong to be proud of our teams, our passions, and our abilities. Our deepest admiration, however, should always be directed to our God, who created us and the pleasures we enjoy.
The test of love is loyalty.
