LIFT UP YOUR EYES

PSALM 121

Psalm 121 is one of the fifteen “songs of ascent” (Psalms 120–134) which were sung by Jewish pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem for the three great festivals each year – Unleavened Bread (Passover), Weeks (First fruits) and Tabernacles.

Most traveling was done on foot and may take several days. As they travel, they trust themselves to God’s protection from the dangers and difficulties of the road.

Our Creator and Redeemer, the One who calls us by name, is the One who watches over our coming and going today and forevermore. The sun will not harm us by day, nor the moon by night (Psalm 121:6) as we put our trust in Him.

Look up today beyond your circumstances and see God!

Dear Father, thank You that You are our Creator and Keeper – the One who made the heavens and the earth and watches over us. Help us to lift our eyes higher to see You and to put our trust in You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
