PSALM 23:2-3
Pain and exhaustion brought on by a variety of conditions may necessitate lying down and taking a nap. Employers expect that we will be present at our workplaces. We will not have jobs if we cannot do that. However, the availability of rest will have a significant impact on our capacity to work.
We sometimes need to be reminded to rest. Our Good Shepherd guides us “beside the still waters,” according to Psalm 23, and makes us “lie down in green pastures.” Even when we are ignorant of it, He is aware that we require the peace and relaxation that they offer.
Our bodies are built to rest regularly. Jesus was aware that there was a proper time to minister to the people and a time to rest. He told His disciples to take a rest (Mark 6:31). We become refreshed and refocused after resting. God may draw our attention by making us lie down when we are crowding every hour with activity, even worthwhile activities.
A good gift from our Creator, who is fully conscious of our exact needs, is rest. We might just fall to pieces if we do not take a break and “lie down.”
🙏🏼Dear Heavenly Father, we appreciate Your concern for our well-being in all spheres of life. Help us to rest, so we can be renewed physically, mentally and spiritually.
