LEANING ON JESUS

JOHN 13:12–26

At night, I imagine leaning on Jesus, recalling the Word of God about the apostle John. John recounts sitting beside Jesus at the Last Supper, where he was reclining next to him (John 13:23).

John uses the term “the disciple whom Jesus loved” to refer to himself without mentioning his own name. He depicts a banquet setting in first-century Israel, where the table was lower and without chairs. John was so close to the Lord that he leaned back against Jesus with his head on his chest.

John’s closeness to Jesus in that moment serves as a reminder for our lives with Him today. Although we cannot physically touch Jesus, we can entrust the weightiest circumstances to Him. He promised to give rest to those weary and burdened, demonstrating the blessings of having a Saviour who is faithful through every life circumstance. Are we “leaning” on Him today?

🙏Dear Lord Jesus, help us to lean on You today and to trust You as our source of strength and hope.
