KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!

PSALM 46

When John was younger, he played the game of bobbing for apples while having his hands tied behind his back. It can be difficult to catch a floating apple with our teeth when we do not have access to our hands. It served as a reminder of the significance of our hands.

It is intriguing to note that God commands us to be still and know that He is God in Psalm 46:10. The Hebrew word for “still” literally translates to “placing our hands by our sides” or to “stop trying.” At first glance, this appears to be a fairly risky piece of advice because our natural inclination in a crisis is to maintain control and use the situation to our advantage. Essentially, God is saying, “Hands off! Rest assured that I will handle your issue, and the solution is in my hands.

May we be still and watch God work for us.
