JUNK FOODS

GALATIANS 1:6-8

Some fast foods can be healthy, but typically most fast foods are junk foods because they contain large amounts of sugar, fats and carbohydrates and less minerals and vitamins. This means as we eat them, we are taking in excessive sugar, fat and carbohydrates and are prone to obesity and some chronic diseases.

Junk foods tastes really good, but they do not do our bodies much good.

To be spiritually healthy and relate as we ought to with God, we have to avoid ‘spiritual junk foods.’ These includes teachings that tell us our Christian lives are all about the good things we do; that trusting Jesus means we will get everything we want; Christianity is a bed of roses; or that God would never send anyone to hell. Spiritual junk foods are anything different from the truth in the Bible. These junk foods can be found anywhere, even some ‘Christian’ books or music. Some of these spiritual junk foods are very pleasant to the ears than the Bible and make us feel good, but they will damage our walk with God if we keep consuming and living by them.

The book of Hebrews warns us: “Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein” (Hebrews 13:9). We need to stick to the truth and life-giving power of what the Bible actually says if we want to live for God and know Him better.
