NEHEMIAH 9:6
There are many ideas and concepts of God in the world. Some people believe in many gods, just like the Greeks, Romans, and Canaanites did. Some believe that God is just a force without a personality. Some people throughout history have postured like God, demanding worship.
According to the Bible, there is only one God. As Creator and Preserver, we are reminded that He is sovereign above all and that life comes from Him and not from ourselves. So all praise goes to the Creator and not the creation. Idolatry comes when, as Augustine prayed, “…the world forgets You, its Creator, and falls in love with what You have created instead of with You.” He is the One who knit us in our mother’s womb (Ps. 139:13) and knows the number of hairs on our head (Luke 12:7) and the names of every star (Ps. 147:4), etc. The only God, we can trust.
