HEALING FOR THE SAINTS

2 CORINTHIANS 1:1-4

Thomas Moore (1779–1852) was an incredibly talented Irish composer, singer, and poet who had a wonderful talent. With his Irish melodies, lyrical love poems and nostalgia that he incorporated into traditional Irish style, he gave his homeland popular music. Tragically, his private life was marred by repeated grief, including the deaths of his five children in his lifetime. Thomas Moore’s personal wounds make his words even more meaningful: “Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish; earth hath no sorrow that heaven cannot heal” – Hymn: Come Ye Disconsolate.

The apostle Paul saw how our Heavenly Father can comfort the wounded heart and wrote it in his letter to the Corinthians. However, sometimes we can be so preoccupied with an inner pain that we isolate ourselves from the One who can comfort us.

By trusting in our Father we can experience peace and the beginning of the healing of our wounded hearts. For truly, the earth has no sadness that heaven cannot heal.

🙏Lord, when earth has no balm for our healing, may we find comfort from above.
