GREATER THAN THE MESS

2 SAMUEL 22:26-37

The Old Testament book of 2 Samuel revolves around the theme of life being a mess, as David faced military challenges, political intrigue, and betrayal. David was also guilty of his relationship with Bathsheba. However, near the end of the book, David praises God for His mercy, love, and deliverance. He cites God as his lamp, turning his darkness into light (22:29).

David’s struggles may be relatable to us, as we are far from perfect, but he knew that God was greater than the chaotic parts of his life. David’s struggles serve as a reminder that God’s way is perfect, and He shields all who take refuge in Him, including us.

Even though life is messy, God is greater than the mess.

🙏 Lord, it is impossible to hear about someone else’s struggles and failures without being reminded of our own. We present them all to You in an effort to receive Your mercy and Your strength for a new beginning.
