LUKE 1:5-17
God occasionally answers our requests slowly, which is difficult for us to comprehend.
Zachariah found it difficult to accept the news that his wife Elizabeth would give birth to a son when the angel Gabriel revealed it to him.
He had obviously prayed to God for a child for many years. Gabriel’s message was difficult for him to understand because Elizabeth was past childbearing age. God nevertheless heard his prayer.
God has an impeccable memory. He has the capacity to keep track of our petitions for years that far outlast our own lives. He never forgets them, and He may respond to them years after we had ask Him. Although His methods are frequently difficult for us to comprehend, we can still trust him.
Zechariah discovered this. He requested a son, but God blessed him with even more. John, his son, would become the man who helped Israel prepare for Christ’s manifestation.
We should be encouraged as we pray by what happened to Zechariah. Although we may not agree with God’s schedule, it is always worth waiting for.
We can still trust who God is even when we cannot see Him at work.
🙏🏼”Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
