GOD’S TIMERS

LUKE 2:36-40

A man described two elderly women who received regular visits from him. One was financially secure, healthy for her age, and a homeowner. However, she always has something negative to say. The other is somewhat forgetful and disabled by arthritis. She keeps a reminder pad nearby so she will not forget her appointments, even though she lives in cheap quarters. But she always begins by saying, “God is so nice to me,” to anybody who comes to her small flat.

When Jesus was born, Anna was a prophetess, and her life was difficult (Luke 2:36โ€“37). Early widowed and possibly without children, she might have felt useless and destitute. Her attention, however, was on God and serving Him. Although she longed for the coming of the Messiah, she was busy serving God by fasting, praying, and sharing what she had learned from Him with others.

Finally, the day came when she, who was in her eighties, saw the baby Messiah being held by his young mother. She waited patiently, and it was all worthwhile. She gave God praise and then shared the happy news with others as her heart was filled with joy.

๐Ÿ™๐ŸปLord Jesus, deliver us from complaining all the time. Make us people that overflows with thankfulness for others and for You. May we accept whatever You give us in Your time. Show us how to start today.
