ROMANS 6:23
Accountancy teaches us that to balance an account, we are required to add up the debits and credits and determine the difference; also, bring the two sides into equilibrium. If, by chance, the two figures do not agree then reconciliation must be made.
In like manner, God needed to balance the books and reconcile our accounts because we had put ourselves into debt by our sins.
The Passiontide (last two weeks of Lent) reminds us of the glorious and beautiful way of atonement, and the high price that had to be paid in order for God to reconcile our accounts and our persons, and that our names can be forever written into the Lamb’s Book of Life!
