JOHN 21:15-19
To be dead is the most terrifying thing many of us can imagine. We prefer to have whatever control we have over life and be grateful for it.
Most of us think more about how we can glorify God through our lives when we are active and strong. But do we stop to think about how we can glorify God through our death?
After Peter denied Jesus three times, the Lord gave him the opportunity to reaffirm his love. Jesus asked Peter thrice if he loved Him. Then he spoke in a surprising change of subject and pointed to the death with which Peter would glorify God. He told Peter that others would take him where he did not want to go, but with this unchosen way of dying, he would be glorifying God.
Each of us should be able to say like the apostle Paul – “According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.” (Philippians 1:20)
We can honour and glorify God as we live and as we die.
🙏Lord, we want to bring You and Your name praise in our daily living till the end. May we glorify You even in the valley of the shadow as we pass from this life. Amen.
