GENTLENESS

EPHESIANS 4:1–6

Although life’s difficulties sometimes cause us to become irritable and out of balance, we should never put up with these episodes of poor behaviour since they can break the hearts of the people we care about and bring pain to everyone in their path. Until we have mastered the art of being amiable, we have not met our obligation to others.

The virtue that rectifies our unpleasantness is called gentleness in the New Testament; the phrase connotes a kind and compassionate spirit. We are reminded to be completely humble and gentle in Ephesians 4:2.

Gentleness is a willingness to accept limitations without causing aggravation, showing gratitude and tolerance for others. It tolerates bothersome people, especially children, and speaks softly in the face of provocation, often using silence as an eloquent response.

Jesus, gentle and humble, delivers us from all sins, and if we ask Him, He will recreate us in His image, because “Jesus was born to deliver us,” as stated by Scottish author George MacDonald.

🙏Oh God, I aspire to be a gentle person. Please help me to treat people with kindness and grace today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
