ISAIAH 43:14-21
It is possible to start afresh. Just ask Danny, a young man who joined a gang while he was a student in secondary school. When he was 12 years old, Danny fled and spent three years becoming lost in a life of gang activity and drugs. Despite leaving the gang, he had trouble returning home because he had been expelled from school for misconduct. However, a teacher at his new school motivated and pushed him to write about his experiences rather than simply recount them. He accepted the challenge, and now he is starting afresh.
God exhorted Jewish exiles to consider a new beginning through the prophet Isaiah. He admonished them to put an end to thinking about their punishment and even His manifestation of might during the first exodus from Egypt. Their focus was to be on God, who would grant them a fresh start by leading them to their homeland from Babylon in a new exodus (v.19).
In our lives, new experiences are possible with God. He can assist us in letting go of the past and beginning to cling to Him. All who will put their trust in Him will find new hope in relationship with Him.
