JEREMIAH 1:4-9
In 1986, John Piper nearly quit as a church minister due to discouragement and opposition. Despite his feelings, he persevered and led a thriving ministry that eventually extended beyond his church.
Although the word “success” is prone to misunderstanding, John Piper may be considered successful. What if his ministry had never prospered?
Jeremiah, a prophet given a direct call by God, was set apart before birth. Despite his prenatal calling, Jeremiah’s ministry never thrived, and his people never repented. Despite facing discouragement and rejection, Jeremiah remained faithful to God, trusting in His guidance. His resilience and compassion demonstrate the Father’s heart, which yearns for everyone to turn to Him.
Jeremiah’s resilience and compassion demonstrate the Father’s love and willingness to help. It is a reminder that we may not “flourish”, but we can be successful in God’s eyes.
