DIVINE COMPASS

PSALM 119:105-112

Small compasses helped 27 sailors survive World War II. After being attacked, their ship caught fire and started to sink. Compass-equipped lifeboats were lowered into the water by Waldemar Semenov and his crew, who then used the compasses to direct them toward the shipping lanes closer to land. They were saved after three days.

We are reminded by the psalmist that God’s Word serves as a reliable “compass.” It is like a lamp, he said. A traveler could only see his next step in the wavering light of an olive oil lamp on those days.

We can put our faith in our God, who provides His trustworthy Word as our compass and uses it to guide us into closer communion with Him when we find ourselves lost in life.

🙏🏻 Heavenly Father, lead us and guide us by the faithfulness and reliability of Your Word.
