MICAH 7:8-9,18-20
After the Great Depression, the stock market fought for several years to regain the trust of investors. Then, in 1952, Harry Markowitz advocated for investors to diversify their stock holdings across various businesses and sectors. In times of uncertainty, he created a theory for portfolio selection that benefited investors. For his hypothesis, Markowitz received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Science in 1990.
After a “crash” in our personal lives, as Jesus followers, we could likewise find ourselves paralysed in fear and unsure of how to pick up the pieces and move on, just like those apprehensive investors. We might even waste the rest of our lifetime hoping for a “Markowitz moment,” when one major thought or deed can enable us to overcome a previous setback.
We overlook the fact that Jesus already accomplished that for us. He took away our guilt, and He freed us to interact with God and carry out everyday service. Because He died and rose again, we are able to “arise” with Him when we “fall,” because He delights in mercy (Micah 7:8,18).
Our eternity with Jesus starts the moment we find Him. He walks by our side so that He can transform us into the persons He made us to be.
Let us look up from our failures, and we will find God standing ready to receive us and use us.
🙏🏼Father, our actions are not adequate to fix our failures. Help us to look up and walk with You.
