BEYOND THE WHISTLE

MATTHEW 9:2–7

During a village football match, a young player was fouled badly, yet helped his opponent up instead of striking back. The crowd fell silent, then thoughtful, because they expected a different reaction.

From our text (Matthew 9:2–7), Jesus first forgives a paralysed man’s sins before healing his body. By doing so, He shows that forgiveness and restoration of the heart matter deeply to God.

Today, we face unfair words, actions, or treatment at work, school, or home. Like Christ, choosing forgiveness over retaliation reflects God’s love. Our calm, gracious responses can become powerful witnesses, helping others see Jesus beyond winning arguments or proving ourselves right.

🙏 May the Lord teach you to respond with grace, not anger. Amen.
