PSALM 18:1-6
As a mother of young children, she was occasionally susceptible to anxiety. Her initial inclination was to contact her mum on the phone and ask her what to do about her children.
Parents can be a great resource, but when we read the Psalms, we are reminded of how often we need the type of help that no mortal can give. In Psalm 18, David was in tremendous danger. Afraid, close to death, and in despair, he called on the Lord. He had countless reasons to praise Him for His deliverance.
We may not comprehend David’s praise because we might not have experienced God’s favour the way he did. It may be that we go for the phone before looking to God for advice and help.
God places people in our lives to provide us with help and comfort. But let us also remember to pray.
Next time you go for the phone, remember to also go to Him.
🙏🏻 Dear Lord, help us to remember You are our deliverer.
