AN AWARD FOR PEACE

EPHESIANS 2:11-18

The creation of dynamite, which revolutionised the course of warfare, brought Alfred Nobel enormous fortune. He made a provision in his will for a prize to be granted annually to people who try to promote peace, possibly because of the horrors that wars inflicted with the use of dynamite. This is now known as the Nobel Peace Prize.

First and foremost, the biblical meaning of peace is peace with God (Rom. 5:1). We are enemies of God because of our sin, but Jesus’ coming to earth and death on the cross turned God’s wrath away. We can now make amends with Him. After mending our relationship with God, Jesus now gives us the ability to focus on removing obstacles between ourselves and others.

Another kind of peace is having the peace of God’s (Phil. 4:7). We are assured that we can make our requests known to Him, therefore there is no need to be concerned about anything.

Jesus is now seated at the right hand of the Father, having brought peace to the world. Today, we can experience peace with God as well as the peace of God.

🙏🏼 Lord, give us true peace which revolves around You.
