DANIEL 6:1-10
I was struck by how easily Daniel could have escaped being cast into the lions’ den when reading the book of Daniel. His regular daily practice of praying to God was the premise for a trap set by his envious competitors in the administration of Babylon (Daniel 6:1–9). Daniel may have chosen to pray in secret for a month until things calmed down since he was completely aware of their plot. However, he was not that kind of person.
Daniel remained calm. Instead, he carried on in the same manner as before (v. 10). He did not let the threat of persecution intimidate him.
The strength of Daniel’s life of steadfast dedication to the Lord served as a lesson for me. Daniel drew strength from God, whom he sought to please every day. He did not have to alter his routine to deal with emergencies. He merely remained devoted to his God.
