2 SAMUEL 23:13–17
During the Second World War, a Navy pilot single-handedly intercepted enemy aircraft to protect his fleet, risking his life rather than waiting for help. His sacrifice mirrors the devotion of David’s warriors, who broke through enemy lines to bring him water from Bethlehem (2 Samuel 23:14–16).
Moved by their courage, David refused to drink the water and poured it out to God (v. 16b – 17).
In a world that often glorifies personal gain, such selfless acts remind us of what truly matters—honour, love, and sacrifice offered not for glory, but in reverence to something greater.
🙏 May the Lord Jesus Christ help you to celebrate the sacrifice of others. Amen.
