SAFE UNTIL MORNING

DEUTERONOMY 34:1–8

As children, we would sit outside after supper, listening to stories under the stars until some of us dozed off on our mother’s lap or on a mat nearby.

Our parents would gently carry us inside, wrap us in blankets, and lay us down to sleep—so that by morning, we would wake up warm, safe, and at home.

That image stays with me. It reminds me that one day, we too will fall asleep—and be carried, not just to a house, but to our eternal home (1 Thessalonians 4:14).

Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki, known as Rashi, an 11th-century Jewish scholar, interpreted Moses’ death in Deuteronomy 34:5 not as “according to the word of the Lord,” but as “by the mouth of the Lord.” Ancient rabbis saw this as meaning Moses died “with the kiss of the Lord.”

What peace—to be kept by God, kissed into rest, and awakened to a new day, forever in His presence.

🙏 May the Lord continue to watch over you and gently lead you into each new day until you meet Him face to face.
