ISAIAH 53:1–6
My index finger had been pierced by the thorn, which caused blood to flow. I yelled, then let out a grunt and reflexively pulled my hand back. However, I should not have been shocked because attempting to trim a prickly bush without wearing gardening gloves was doomed to fail.
I had to pay attention to the throbbing pain in my finger and the blood gushing from it. And I was suddenly thinking about my Saviour as I was looking for a bandage. After all, Jesus was made to wear a whole crown of thorns by soldiers (John 19:1–3). I wondered how much pain a whole crown of thorns would cause if one thorn caused this much pain.
Jesus endured pain, as described in Isaiah 53. He was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities, but His sacrifice brought us peace with God. His willingness to die on our behalf paved the way for a relationship with the Father.
🙏 Let the sacrifice of Jesus continue to speak for you and draw you closer and closer to the Father. Amen.
