HEBREWS 13:1โ3; GALATIANS 6:10
While on vacation, I went to a well-known sports centre. I could see that the gates were open and I was invited to come. Taking in the well-kept sports fields and exploring the grounds was enjoyable for me. I was going to leave when someone halted me and sternly informed me that I was not supposed to be there. It seemed awkward to be reminded that I was an outsider all of a sudden.
During that trip, I also went to a church. Once more, the doors were open, so I entered. What a change! A lot of folks gave me friendly greetings and made me feel completely at home. I knew I was accepted and welcomed when I left that church service.
Sadly, visiting some churches and meeting some Christians often leads to the unspoken message that we are not supposed to be there. Scripture calls us to be hospitable, loving our neighbours as ourselves, welcoming them into our lives and churches, showing hospitality to strangers, and showing active love to people with social and physical needs, especially among the body of believers.
We emulate the compassion and love of our Saviour when we extend an open welcome to everyone.
๐ May everyone you meet feel the warm welcome of Jesusโ love, and may the Lord lead you to kind people who will always welcome you.
