ISAIAH 49:14–18
Charles Spurgeon frequently preached the profound truth of Isaiah 49:16, a text that tells us that God engraved us on the palms of His hands.
Spurgeon connects the promise of the Lord to His people, the Israelites, and God’s Son, Jesus, on the cross. He asks about the wounds in Jesus’ hands, stating that the engraver’s tool was the nail, backed by the hammer. Jesus stretched out His arms on the cross, receiving the nails in His hands, so we could be free of our sins.
We only need to glance at our hands to remind ourselves of God’s promise if and when we feel like He has forgotten us. He loves us so greatly that He has permanently marked His hands for us.
🙏 No matter what comes your way, may you remain safe in the palm of God’s hands, in Jesus name. Amen.
