MALACHI 1:1–5
A good number of teenagers go through the typical season of rebellion against their parents’ authority.
The Israelites’ captivity in Babylon caused them to wonder how much God loved them. However, God punished them for their persistent disobedience by putting them in captivity. God then sent them the prophet Malachi. “I have loved you,” was the first thing the Lord said to him (Malachi 1:2). As if to ask, “Really?” Israel gave a doubtful response, asking how God had loved them. However, Malachi served as a reminder to them of how God had shown them such love by selecting them over the Edomites.
Everybody experiences challenging times in their lives. During those moments, we can be tempted to doubt God’s love for us. Let us remember all the ways He has demonstrated His unwavering love for us. We discover that He is a loving Father when we pause to reflect on His benevolence.
🙏 Lord, You have shown tender care for Your people over the course of time. You have been present with them in difficult seasons. Help them to always remember Your love.
