MARK 9:14–29
During a difficult time during cancer treatment, my friend called me, expressing his pain. I could not help but pray for him, focusing on Jesus. His wife assured me later that he was asleep and will call tomorrow.
I sobbed into my pillow as I hung up.
In Mark’s gospel, a father brings his son to Jesus, facing doubt and impossibility. Jesus empowers his belief, leading to freedom, hope, and peace for the father and son.
It’s normal to want to do the right things and say the right things when loved ones are in pain. However, the only one who can actually assist us is Christ. Jesus can give us the ability to trust in and believe in the strength of His presence when we call on His name.
