2 KINGS 4:1–7; MATTHEW 6:32
It is pitch dark when Joanna starts her day. Soon, other villagers will rise to visit the rubber plantation, which is vital for income. Before tapping trees for latex, she spends time with God. Joanna supports her elderly mother and two grandsons after losing her father, husband, and son.
The widow was in debt after her husband passed away (2 Kings 4:1). She turned to Elisha, God’s servant, for assistance in her time of need. She had faith that God was concerned about her predicament and could intervene. And God did. He miraculously met this widow’s desperate needs (vv. 5–6). Through the labour of her hands, this same God also provided for Joanna, albeit in a less spectacular way.
Can you recall a moment when you believed you might not survive without a miracle?
Even though we may face many challenges in life, we can always find strength in God. We may give Him our worries, do everything we can, and watch as He amazes us with what He can accomplish in our circumstances.
We may face circumstances that are above our capabilities, but God’s resources are always bigger.
🙏 Lord Jesus, teach Your children to seek Your help in all they do.
