MICAH 5:2–4
My children used to ask me all the time when they were younger, “How much longer until it is Christmas?” Even though we used a daily Advent calendar to count down the days until Christmas, they still thought the wait was unbearable.
Waiting can be hard for everyone, not just children. Micah spoke about a ruler from Bethlehem who would come to lead people. This was fulfilled when Jesus was born, after about 700 years of waiting. However, there is more to come, and we look forward to Jesus’ return, when all will be well and our waiting will end.
Most people struggle with waiting, but we can trust that God keeps His promises to be with us during this time (Matt. 28:20). Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem brought abundant life (see John 10:10) without condemnation. We experience His presence today while we look forward to His return.
And as we begin another year in the Christian calendar (Advent), I wish you a happy new year as we keep waiting.
🙏 Lord, your servant, wait for your promises, believing they will come true. May it be to him/her according to your word.
