1 JOHN 3:16–24
A lady shared images of a severe flood on social media in August 2016. She added a note from someone in the flooded area begging for assistance the following morning. Five hours later, she and her husband called for help from anyone who could travel the 1,000 miles to join them. Thirteen individuals were en route to assist those whose homes had sustained significant damage less than twenty-four hours later.
What drives people to abandon everything and make the seventeen-hour travel to a new location to move appliances, perform demolition work, and offer hope? It is love.
How can the love of God be in someone who sees a brother or sister in need and does not feel sorry for them? (1 John 3:17). Even though it could seem like a difficult endeavour, when we do what pleases Him, God promises to assist us (v. 22).
When a need emerges, we can honour God by being prepared to say “yes” out of love to what we believe He wants us to do for others.
🙏Please, Lord Jesus, open our hearts to those in need, open our eyes to their needs, and open our hands to help them.
