HEBREWS 11:8–13
A teenager prefers reading books over movies, citing the ability to linger and “inhabit” the stories, to stay there as long as he wants.
Hebrews 11, also known as the faith chapter, describes numerous individuals who faced hardship and doubt but chose to obey God. These individuals, who lived by faith even after death, did not receive the promised things but welcomed them from a distance. We can read about them without rushing.
Rushing through the Bible can lead to a lack of deeper understanding of God’s truth and plan for our lives. However, when we allow ourselves to stay, we can become caught up in real-life dramas and fully appreciate the text.
It is wise to keep in mind that we are welcome to stay as long as we like when we open God’s Word.
🙏Heavenly Father, I am grateful for Your written Word and the lives of those who exemplified faith. Help us to follow You as they did.
