JOB 2:1–10
The child raised his nose, pushed out his tongue, and squeezed his eyes shut the first time he bit into a slice of lemon. His words were “sow-wah” (sour).
With a laugh, I grabbed the piece of fruit, planning to throw it in the trash. He ran across the kitchen in an attempt to stop me. He still wanted more.
Job endured hardship and pain, even when his wife advised him to give up on God. Despite his discomfort, he trusted in God.
Life can be challenging, but trials teach us to trust, depend on, and surrender to God. They enable us to persevere through difficult times, and like Job, we can enjoy the unexpected sweetness of sour moments, strengthening our faith and allowing us to savour the sweet moments.
🙏O Lord, we appreciate Your assurance that suffering is never in vain when we put our faith in Your identity, accomplishments, and possible future.
