LUKE 3:7–14; 2 CORINTHIANS 9:7
A pastor challenged his church to take their coats off and donate them to the needy. Despite the discomfort of the trip home during the winter, the act of giving coats to those in need helped warm up the season for many in need. This unsettling challenge exemplifies the power of giving back to others.
John the Baptist warned a crowd of vipers to produce fruit of repentance. He advised sharing clothing and food among those in need, highlighting the importance of true repentance in fostering a generous heart.
Giving should never be forced or driven by guilt, because God loves everyone who gives cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7). However, we discover that giving is actually better than receiving when we do so freely and cheerfully.
🙏Lord Jesus, show us what we have that we might use to bless someone else today.
