EXODUS 32:1–5, 19–26
The CEO admitted to making mistakes in illegal activities, expressing regret but maintaining distance from personal responsibility.
Mistakes can include driving in the wrong direction or forgetting to set a timer. God calls deliberate deeds sinful, as seen in Adam and Eve’s disobedience. Aaron took no personal responsibility for building a golden calf, explaining to Moses that the people gave him the gold, and it was thrown into the fire, and out came the calf (Exodus 32:24).
Blaming others can be dangerous, as it can lead to minimising our sins and ignoring their true nature.
God offers forgiveness and restoration to His children when they take responsibility for their sins and confess them, as stated in 1 John 1:9.
