LUKE 8:1–8; 2 CORINTHIANS 8:7
At age eight, a young boy expressed his love for Jesus and desire to serve God overseas. Over the next decade, my friend prayed for him and invested money in his future. When he applied to a mission agency, my friend gave him the money he had been saving for him, demonstrating his heart for others and his commitment to spreading God’s good news.
Jesus and His disciples needed financial support as they travelled to spread the good news. A group of women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases, including Mary Magdalene and Joanna, helped them out of their own means. Although their spiritual needs were met, they now provided financial resources to support Jesus and His disciples. The details of Susanna and others are unknown, but it is clear that Jesus met their spiritual needs.
Our hearts are touched by Jesus’ compassion for others as we reflect on what He has done for us. Let us ask God to use us in His plan.
