1 PETER 2:9; Psalm 100
Corrie ten Boom wrote in her autobiography about the horrible time she and her sister Betsie spent in a Nazi concentration camp in the early 1940s. On one occasion, they were compelled to strip off for an inspection. Corrie felt defiled and abandoned as she stood in line. She suddenly recalled that Jesus had been crucified while unclothed. Such a concept astonished her, and she was filled with astonishment and reverence.
In a world full of problems, conflicts, and afflictions, it is easy for us to live without gratitude. We can always find something to grumble about. But Psalm 100 commands God’s people to rejoice, be glad, and be grateful.
Do not allow the brutality of the world to rob you of your spirit of gratitude. Keep in mind that you are God’s child and that, by His work on the cross, He has demonstrated His compassion and mercy to you.
