MATTHEW 5:14-16
Rjukan, Norway, does not receive direct sunshine from October to March because of its northern latitude, which is combined with its placement among cliff-faced mountains. Large mirrors were built on the mountaintop by the locals to reflect the sun’s rays and direct light into the town square in order to brighten it up. The massive mirrors rotate with the rising and setting sun, enabling the continuous glow.
I like to picture the Christian life in terms of this situation. According to Jesus, His followers are “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).
Jesus also declared that He is the world’s light. According to John 8:12, whoever follows Him will always have the light of life. Jesus, the Son, is reflected in our brightness.
🙏🏻Teach us, Lord, to reflect Your light.
