1 PETER 5:1-11
“If you ask me: What is the single most important key to longevity?”, an actor and comedian once remarked, “I would have to say that it is keeping anxiety, stress, and tension at bay.” I would still have to tell you if you had not asked. He made people laugh, lived to reach 100, and it seems he took his own advice.
But how can we avoid worrying when our lives are so uncertain and filled with pressures and challenges? The apostle Peter urged the forcedly scattered followers of Jesus in Asia during the first century to submit to God’s strong hand and lay all their anxieties at His feet (1 Peter 5:6-7).
Our goal should be to lay our cares on the Lord and live fully in loving service to Him for as long as we are granted, not to see how long we can live.
🙏🏻Lord Jesus, we admit that we take things into our own hands and worry. Lift the heaviness from our hearts as we lean on You.
