COLOSSIANS 4:2-6
A boy on a passenger train was trying to sell apples in order to make some money, as the story goes. “Apples!” he said as he moved through the carriage. “Would you like to buy an apple?” He still had a bag of apples in his possession and no money when he reached the back of the train.
When a stranger saw his predicament, he approached him and demanded to see one of the apples. Moving to the front of the train, he polished the apple with a napkin before munching on it and bragging about how good it was as he crossed the aisle. The boy was then instructed to try once more. The apples were all purchased this time. The difference? The apples had been made to look appealing.
This story can serve as a reminder of one approach to attract others to the gospel of Jesus Christ: by making it appealing to them and demonstrating the impact it has had on our own lives. The best way to do that is to adhere to Paul’s advice from Colossians 4:5. If we treat people with kindness, love, and compassion, others may wonder why, which may provide an opportunity for us to explain the beauty of God’s love to them.
The beauty of transformed lives has the power to draw people to the One who makes us glorious.
