PSALM 59
The terror attack on Pentecost Sunday (June 5, 2022) at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, in South-West Nigeria, opened a new chapter in Nigeria’s bleak security condition. The terrorists strategically chose a church and a place in southern Nigeria to demonstrate that their reach extended beyond the north, as had been supposed earlier.
Terrorists attacks against churches, mosques, education institutions, police stations, military divisions, and government organizations have primarily happened in the North since 2009, when the Islamic terror group Boko Haram adopted suicide bombing as one of their method of operation.
It is really terrifying to think that a terrorist attack may occur at any time and in any location. It can also appear nobody is secure.
Our safety, according to the Bible, does not come from armed guards or the police. It can be found in God. Over forty times in the book of Psalms, people talked about hiding in God! Many of these references are based on King David’s personal experience of being pursued and attacked. He placed all of his trust in God in his prayers for protection (Psalm 59:16-17).
Trusting God does not imply that He will always isolate us from trouble or bodily harm. However, He promises to be with us at all times as our security and refuge. We discover true strength and assurance in Him. Nothing can compare to the mightiness of our God! We are His, and only He has full power, not the terrors of this life.
Trusting God every day provides security.
🙏🏼 Thank You Lord for being our shelter in times of trouble.
