LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23
Something caught my attention as I stood at the mall’s entry gate – a hat worn by someone running through the grassy area. The information it conveyed in just two words drew my attention: “Deny Everything.” I had no idea what it meant. Never accept about being guilty? Or forgo oneself of pleasures in life and luxuries? The complexity of those two simple words, “Deny Everything,” had me scratching my head.
Peter, one of Jesus’ disciples, did some denial. He denied three times in a vital moment that he even knew Jesus! (See Luke 22:57, 58, and 60.) His fear-filled act of denial caused him so much remorse and pain that he could only go out and weep bitterly, shattered by his spiritual failure.
But, like our own moments of spiritual denial, Peter’s denial of Christ could not decrease God’s compassion. His mercy never fails. Every morning, they are new (Lam. 3:22-23). We can take solace in the fact that even when we fail, our faithful God is always merciful and compassionate to us!
🙏🏼Thank You, Father, for Your new and never-failing mercies.
