1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-4
Manuel Gonzalez was the first rescuer to reach the 33 miners who had been trapped for 69 days after a mine explosion in Chile in 2010. He walked underground more than 2,000 feet to bring the stranded men back to the surface, putting his own life on the line. The world watched in awe as each miner was rescued and carried to safety one by one.
For a week, he and a group of 15 individuals from mines all throughout Chile had been planning for “Operation San Lorenzo.” They had practiced getting the miners ready for their trip to the surface and operating the metal rescue capsule flying Chile’s flag that would transport them to safety.
An even more spectacular rescue is described in the Bible. All of mankind was enslaved to sin as a result of Adam and Eve’s disobedience. But God sent a Saviour in the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Everyone who accepts the free gift of salvation that He offers through His death and resurrection is set free from the hold of sin and the death sentence that comes with it.
Jesus Christ rose from the grave. Those who place their faith in Him will also be given life (Romans 8:11). Are you still enslaved by your wrong doings? Accept Jesus’ gift of salvation and live a life of freedom in Christ, as well as an eternity with Him.
🙏🏼 Dear Lord, may we come to a new understanding of the significance of Your death and resurrection in our lives today.
