STAY HYDRATED – AVOID DEHYDRATION

JOHN 7:37-39

I have been dehydrated several times before, and it is not something I want to experience again. It was accompanied by dizziness, disorientation, blurred vision, among other symptoms. I discovered the importance of water for my health the hard way.

My dehydration experience has given me a new perspective on Jesus’ call in John 7:37. His announcement was dramatic, especially given the circumstance. It was the “great day of the feast” according to John. This feast (Sukka, also called Feast of Tabernacles or Feast of Booths) was an annual event commemorating the Jews’ wandering in the wilderness that culminated with a ceremonial pouring of water by the priests to recall God’s supply of water for the thirsty wanderers. Jesus waited until the “great day of the feast” to publicly declare that he was the source of “living water” we all require.

We truly need Jesus; communicating with Him and relying on His counsel are essential to our spiritual well-being. So, stay connected to Jesus, because He is the only one who can quench our soul’s thirst!

🙏🏼 Dear Lord, please forgive us for thinking we can get through life without the water of Your presence, guidance, comfort, and conviction.
