ZERO TOLERANCE FOR GOSSIP

LEVITICUS 19:16

When Sheryl applied for a factory job, she was surprised to learn that there is a zero tolerance policy for gossip. Employees are encouraged to confront each other rather than gossiping about their colleagues. If they are caught gossiping, they are warned and if they continue, their employment will be terminated.

Long before any society or company adopted this kind of policy, God spoke of His policy of zero tolerance for gossip and slander among His people (Leviticus 19:16). Empty conversations that stupidly or maliciously spread rumours or facts about another person were prohibited.

Talking badly about others can have catastrophic consequences – it abuses trust, breaks close friends, embarrasses you, gives you a bad reputation, and constantly fuels arguments. People can rarely repair the damage their wrong words have done to a neighbour.

Let us ask the Lord to help us not to speak badly about others. He wants us to protect our mouths to say all the good we know about everyone instead.

Destroy gossip by ignoring it.

🙏Help us Lord, to watch our tongue and guard it well
