A resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something.
The origin of making New Year’s resolutions could be traced to the Babylonians, who reportedly made promises to the gods with the hope that they would earn good favour in the coming year.
When the Babylonians were not making vows, they were busy conquering other nations – including Israel. But with time, God sent the enslaved Israelites a message. He told them not to be afraid. He will be with them. That was His resolution.
Today we push out from the shore into a new day. Whatever we face, He is with us and He has the power to calm the storms.
