TINY BUT MIGHTY

1 SAMUEL 17:42

Even before the baby girl was born, doctors knew she was going to be small. She was delivered by emergency caesarean section after spending only 23 weeks and three days in gestation because her mother was suffering from a life-threatening condition that can slow a baby’s growth in the womb. Doctors doubted Baby Saybie would live and told her parents they would likely have only an hour with their daughter. However, Saybie kept fighting. A pink card near her crib declared “Tiny but Mighty.” After five months in the hospital, Saybie miraculously went home as a healthy baby. And she took a world record with her: the world’s tiniest surviving baby.

Goliath considered it an insult to have David fight him because David was “a youth” (1 Samuel 17:42) – while he was a battle-seasoned warrior. David, the eighth and the youngest of Jesse’s sons, was consistently looked down upon, even by his own family (1 Samuel 17:28). But he fought and defeated Goliath.

No matter how huge the problem, when God is with us there is nothing that we need to fear. We may feel tiny, but with His strength, we are also mighty.
