PHILIPPIANS 3:20
Outside the Shibuya train station in Tokyo is a statue in memory of an Akita dog named Hachiko. Hachiko was born in 1923. In 1924, Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor at the Tokyo Imperial University, brought him to live in Shibuya, Tokyo, as his pet. Hachiko was very loyal to his master. He followed him to Shibuya Station every morning and returned to meet him later in the day as he arrives from work. This continued until May 21, 1925, when Ueno died while at work. From then until his death on March 8, 1935, Hachiko would return to Shibuya Station every day to await Ueno’s return.
Are we still waiting today?
Despite the challenges of this life, those who have left their old ways to serve the living and true God are encouraged to keep waiting for Jesus’ return.
Earth is not our home – Heaven is. We live on Earth now, but Heaven is where we belong. All true children of God are foreigners on Earth. There is nothing better than living for Jesus and awaiting our Master’s return, just as Hachiko did.
